Liposuction

Liposuction, also called lipoplasty, is a surgical procedure that removes deposits of excess fat from specific areas of the body, face or neck. Liposuction can be used to slim the hips and thighs, flatten the abdomen, shape the calves and ankles or eliminate a double chin. Although liposuction is not a treatment for obesity, it can permanently alter body proportion and is sometimes the only way to eliminate fat deposits that do not respond to diet and exercise. This procedure is usually done as an outpatient procedure.

Ultrasound-assisted Lipoplasty

Ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty, commonly known as “UAL”, is a relatively new liposuction technique that uses sound waves to “liquefy” unwanted fat. Although it is not a substitute for traditional liposuction, UAL can be an effective tool for removing fat from fibrous body areas, such as the make breasts or the back, or for removing larger volumes of fat in a single procedure. Often, traditional liposuction is performed with UAL to help shape UAL-treated areas of the body not suited for UAL, such as the neck and inner thighs.
